We the People Will Paint Our Country Blue
BLUE is a metaphor for our blue skies, oceans, lakes, streams, and how all Americans work together to keep our nation honest, healthy and sustainable. We the People are the stewards of our land and the builders of our destiny! We are true BLUE. We are loyal, steadfast, principled, generous of spirit and committed to the wellbeing and welfare of more than just the individual. We are the 99% … and more.
Our goal is to use the power of our progressive majority to re-elect the President and restore a Democratic Congress. It is essential that we re-elect Barack Obama as the nation’s advocate for the people’s will and aspirations. But our President cannot do his work, and ours, alone.
We the People must renew the solidarity of our efforts to resist reactionary and regressive politics. With the strength of our united voices, we can speak directly to the Obama Presidency. By speaking democracy, our voices will stir Obama and Congress to action. By reinvigorating our movement and our commitment to fundamental reform, We the People will lead by paving the way to a more democratic society, a nation rooted in the principles of fairness, economic justice and political equality.
BLUE is the color of our patriotism, the genuine love of our country. It is the blue of the vast oceans and inland seas that border our land. Painting America Blue symbolizes our commonality as a people, our history, our rights and responsibilities as citizens and the power to make our destiny.
We the People are the 99% who built our prosperous nation, and it is up to us to preserve its beauty and its greatness. It is time for us to demonstrate our commitment to the values that America symbolizes to the world — a society dedicated to personal liberty and collective good. It is the masses of Americans — the salt of the earth — who have worked to preserve and fought to defend the unique values and liberties that make our country a beacon to the world and a leader among nations.
Many brushes in many hands render the whole mural of America. Anyone can paint, regardless of faith, class or political ideology. Everyone can have a brush, a voice, a vote. All of our colors, genders, ages and ethnicities can join together to paint our nation BLUE.
United, our efforts, large and small, dedication and perseverance will achieve our goal.
